Google Plans to Bring High-Speed Internet to Silicon Valley

Google has invited San Jose and four other cities in Silicon Valley to be part of their nationwide push to bring ultra-high speed Google Fiber broadband to 34 cities across the country. Scott Budman reports.

Google is pulling the plug on its free citywide Wi-Fi service in Mountain View.

Google installed the network eight years ago.

But the network has not kept up with the increasing demands for data. and there has been complaints about its reliability.

The Mercury News reports that Google is going to take it down over the next two months.

Mountain View's city council, however, is considering a plan this week to build a new public Wi-Fi system for the downtown area.
