Green Fans Celebrate “Nat'l Plug-In Day”

Owners and fans of plug-in cars gathered on Crissy Field

Enthusiasts and proud owners of plug-in cars are set to attend one of the nation's largest-ever gatherings of electric vehicle owners in San Francisco's Crissy Field today.

The gathering is commemorating the second annual "National Plug-in Day" at the electric vehicle charging station at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge, according to organizers from electric car advocacy non-profit Plug in America.

Attendees will get a chance to celebrate the "fun, clean-air benefits and cost-savings" that come with electric cars at the event, which will feature an owners appreciation event and brief speeches from representatives of the National Park Service, Plug In America and the Sierra Club.

Meanwhile, similar plug-in vehicle celebrations will be taking place in 59 other American cities from Maui to New York, organizers said. The event is being held all day at Crissy Field.
