A vintage munition was discovered in a Marin creek bed in San Anselmo, according to reports.

A tree-trimming crew stumbled upon a World War II-era grenade around 2 p.m. Thursday on a property at 360 Redwood Road, according to the Marin Independent Journal.

Obviously alarmed, the trimmers called police, who called the University of California, Berkeley bomb squad, which provides bomb disposal services to Marin police agencies. The bomb squad determined the grenade was inert -- as in, will not explode -- and harmless.

Creek access has been restored, news that's sure to relieve future grenade-hunters.
