Grim Anniversary for Jeanine Harms

Los Gatos woman was last seen 9 years ago

Nine years ago today, Jeanine Harms disappeared. But it doesn't get easier for family and friends -- this is an emotional day, regardless of how much time has passed.

Harms was 42 years old when she met two men at Rock Bottom Brewery and Restaurant in Campbell on July 27, 2001. She invited the pair to her duplex in Los Gatos. One of the men told investigators the other man did not arrive. He told investigators that he and Harms got beer and that Harms told him he could stay at her place. When he left she was dozing on the couch, he told investigators.

No one has seen her since. There was never a body found, blood or DNA evidence linking the two men to Harms.

The San Jose man who was with her was arrested in 2004 and held for more than two years, but charges against him were eventually dropped.

Investigators say the investigation is active, that it's not a cold case. They will not comment on new tests being done on fiber evidence from a rug and craft project at her home. One of the country's top fiber experts is on the case.

Jeanine Harms would be 51 years old today. Her parents are over 80 but, they say, they are still hopeful that they'll learn what really happened to their daughter.
