Missing Guide Dog in Training Found

LOOMIS, Calif. -- An exhaustive search for a very special yellow lab puppy has ended successfully.

The dog named Ingeborg is a guide dog in training who somehow got away from the person who was raising her in Loomis, outside Rocklin Sunday.

Guide Dogs for the Blind said the one-year-old female Labrador Retriever just had to chase a rabbitt she saw near Rocklin and Barton roads.

She ran off with her leash attached to her collar.

Hours of searching Sunday and Monday failed to find Ingeborg.    She was finally found in an outbuilding on the property where she first ran off.  Guide dogs said she must have returned home and then somehow got locked inside the building.  She was finally located 6 p.m. Monday.

All guide dogs in training have ID numbered tattooed in both ears as well as an ID plate on her collar.

Guide Dogs is based in Marin County, but the dogs are trained all across California in the homes of volunteers who spend months getting them ready to become a companion to those without sight.
