At least six abandoned guinea pigs were found wandering aimlessly Wednesday morning in the middle of San Francisco's Dolores Park.
A gardener, who identified herself as Michelle, said she found the guinea pigs overnight at the park near the 20th and Church streets Muni stop, according to a blog post on the San Francisco Chronicle website.
“People leave all kinds of pets in Dolores Park,” Michelle told the Chronicle. “Bunnies, chickens and once I caught a man grazing his goats here.”
Animal Care & Control officials said they were picking up the guinea pigs which will be put up for adoption — if they are friendly.
The woman who found the unusual flock of furry rodents took it all in stride.
“It’s Dolores Park,” Michelle said to the Chronicle. “We get a lot of weird stuff here.”
Animal Care & Control has posted pictures of some different guinea pigs who are up for adoption on its Facebook page (including the one pictured above).
