Gun Burglary Suspect Surrenders After Standoff in Milpitas Gun Store, Three Suspects Arrested

Of the four suspects, three were juveniles, police said.

A gun store burglary suspect surrendered peacefully inside a Milpitas gun store early Wednesday morning after a nearly four-hour police standoff, while three other suspects had previously been taken into custody.

The fourth suspect, who was not identified, was taken into custody shortly before 6 a.m., Lt. Raj Maharaj said. Originally, police said that he had been resisting police orders to come out, but Maharaj clarified that point later, saying the suspect couldn't come out at first: He was stuck behind a locked door.

Of the four suspects, three were juveniles, police said.

He had been holed up inside Target Masters West gun shop on Minnis Circle since 1:50 a.m. The shop also goes by the Milpitas Shooting Range. By 5:30 a.m., Maharaj said the suspect was "contained."

Three other suspects were arrested shortly after the break-in, Maharaj said, after a police sergeant heard the burglar alarm noticed one of them hopping off the roof and hopping into a getaway car. Apparently, the fourth suspect had wanted to exit from the roof as well, but wasn't able to do that, Maharaj said.

The shop is around the corner from the Milpitas police station at 1275 Milpitas Boulevard.
