A New Year's Day fire caused more than $2.6 million in damage to three residential buildings in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, a fire department spokeswoman said today.
The three-alarm blaze was reported at about 8:10 p.m. Sunday at 1357 Masonic Ave., near Waller Street, fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.
Flames spread to two other buildings before firefighters extinguished the flames shortly after 9 p.m.
While investigators believe the blaze started accidentally, its exact cause had not been determined as of today, Talmadge said.
The fire caused about $1.3 million in damage to the structure of 1357 Masonic Ave., and destroyed about $300,000 in contents, she said.
One of the adjacent buildings, which contains both 1363 and 1365 Masonic Ave., sustained about $200,000 in damage to the structure and $100,000 in damage to its contents.
Another adjacent building, at 1355 Masonic Ave., sustained about $450,000 in damage, and $300,000 in contents was destroyed, Talmadge said.

One person was injured in the fire and was taken to a hospital. Talmadge did not have an update today on that person's condition today.
Nine other residents were displaced by the blaze. The American Red Cross responded to assist the displaced residents.
