Live Stream of Memorial Service for Hayward Police Sgt. Scott Lunger From NBC Bay Area

Funeral service for slain Hayward police officer is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

The procession and memorial service honoring Hayward Police Sgt. Scott Lunger will be live-streamed on this page.

The 15-year veteran of the Hayward Police Department was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop last week.

Thousands are expected to attend his funeral service Thursday morning at Oracle Arena, 7000 Coliseum Way, Oakland, beginning at 10:00 a.m..

A police motorcade will escort his body starting at 8:45 a.m. on Mission Boulevard in Hayward. It will head north to Foothill Boulevard, on to A Street westbound, then Interstate 880, ending at Oracle.

Police warn that traffic will be stopped at times while the motorcade is on the move.

First responders from across the nation will also be on hand to pay their respects.

Funeral services are open to the public. Public access to the Oracle Arena will be via the Main Gate. Members of the public are encouraged to use public transportation. BART provides direct service to the Oracle Arena via the Coliseum Station, and the gates to the footbridge will be open to permit the public access to the Arena.

Traffic in the region will be severely impacted up until the beginning of the ceremony. Motorists are asked to utilize alternate routes which avoid Interstate 880 when possible.

Three law enforcement processions will take place Thursday which will impact traffic throughout the region.

At 8:00 AM, a procession of Hayward Police Department officers and families will travel to Oracle Arena along Interstate 880. Expect freeway and on-ramp closures along I-880 N/B between Winton Avenue and the Oracle Arena.

At 8:45 AM, a procession of law enforcement officers will escort Sergeant Lunger from the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward to the Oracle Arena. Expect roadway, freeway, and on-ramp closures along SR-238/Mission Blvd., I-238 N/B, and I-880 N/B.

At approximately 1:00 PM, a procession of law enforcement officers will escort Sergeant Lunger from the Oracle Arena to his final resting place in Brentwood. Expect freeway, on-ramp, and roadway closures along I-880 S/B, I-238 S/B, I-580 E/B, and Vasco Road.

Members of the public wishing to pay tribute to Sergeant Lunger along the procession routes are asked to do so from safe locations, such as freeway overpass sidewalks and sidewalks along city streets. Under no circumstances should people stop on the freeway or in the roadway to pay tribute.
