Two big rigs were involved in a head-on collision on Highway 17 at Laurel Road. One person has died in that accident.
The accident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. Friday. The highway is normally divided with a concrete barrier, however in that area there is a break in that barrier.
The highway has been closed in the northbound direction. Drivers who do not have to be in Santa Cruz are encouraged to delay their plans or research alternate routes.
