Health Advisory Lifted After “Release” at Dow Chemical Plant in Pittsburg

A brief health advisory was issued Friday morning after some sort of "release" on Dow Chemical in Pittsburg.

Contra Costa County issued the the Level 2 alert at 3 a.m. for Pittsburg and Antioch after the plant had some type of "release." A visible plume was spotted for about 10 minutes after an estimated several thousand pounds of chemicals that make up soap-like products were released into the air, a Down spokesman said. There was some type of malfunction with the machinery, he added. There were no injuries to the half dozen people inside the plant at the time, and no fire, he said.

But the advisory was lifted at 5:43 a.m.
