Hunters Help Catch Suspected North Bay Arsonist

28-year-old James Novak is accused of starting several grass fires over the weekend, including one that burned about 21 acres.

A group of hunters are credited for helping put a suspected arsonist behind bars in the North Bay.

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Department said 28-year-old James Novak started several grass fires there both Saturday and Sunday. One of them burned about 21 acres.

He was taken into custody Sunday after the hunters said they spotted smoke. They said they saw Novak start multiple fires.

That is when they took matters into their own hands by holding the suspect and putting him in a headlock when he tried to escape.

No one was injured and no structures were damaged as a result of the fires.
