Lanes on Interstate 880 in San Jose have reopened after a woman jumped from an overpass, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The woman, who police said was conscious and breathing after the 70-foot drop, was treated by medics at the scene.
The CHP received a report at 10:20 a.m. about the woman, described as in her late 30s to early 40s, perched on the ledge above Coyote Creek off of southbound Highway 880 near Brokaw Road, CHP Officer Ross Lee said.
CHP officers, a negotiator with the Milpitas Police Department and a county public health worker responded to the scene and attempted to convince the woman to come off of the ledge, Ross said.
The CHP temporarily shut down two lanes of southbound Highway 880 during the negotiations, which snarled traffic in the area.
