Sharon Kaye had Easter Sunday on her mind when she pulled into the Walmart parking lot in East San Jose. As she drove near the front of the store, a man driving a red Oldsmobile Cutlass hit her car and kept on going.

"I thought maybe it was road rage, because he came twice past me and hit my car twice," said Kaye, an opera singer and founder of Mission City Opera in Santa Clara.

San Jose police say Haamid Zaid hit another car and then smashed his Cutlass through the front entrance of the Walmart at 777 Story Road about 11:15 a.m. Shoppers dove for cover. Screams. Panic. The car crashed into a beer display and stopped. Raymond Raborar ran inside and shot video on his cell phone. the scene inside is hectic.

"There's a lot of things coming through my mind. I thought something fell. Was it earthquake? Or was it a terrorist attack?" Raborar said.

Police say Zaid then picked up a metal bar and started swinging it at customers. Four people were hurt including one Walmart employee who was hit in the head. Shoppers tackled Zaid and held him down until the police arrived. Investigators say Zaid appeared to be on drugs.

"It's like, "Oh my goodness, the man is crazy," Kaye said.

Kaye's Honda CRV is now in the shop. The front end is smashed up. She's a little sore and has slight whiplash.

"We were all blessed. No one in the parking lot was hit by this person and only four people inside were accosted. So it's just kinda an Easter miracle," Kaye said.

Zaid is originally from Seaside near Monterey, but he now lives in San Jose. Zaid's mother told NBC Bay Area that she has no explanation for her son's actions. Zaid has been been booked into the Santa Clara County main jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run, being under the influence of drugs and resisting arrest.

He is expected in court on Thursday afternoon to face charges of assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run, and being under the influence of drugs. Police said they had no specific motive for what happened.

Days later, Kaye is still upset.

"I'm pretty nervous," she said."You know still shaken."
