Injured Fremont Officer Goes Home

A welcome sign of recovery for injured officer.

Bay City News reported that the Fremont police officer who was shot back in August has been released from the hospital and is back home with his wife and children.

Officer Todd Young has been in the hospital since late August when he was shot twice while trying to arrest a domestic violence suspect in Oakland.

Fremont police spokesman Bill Veteran told BCN that Young is "recovering well" but added the road to recovery is still a long one that will involved several more months of physical therapy.

The man suspected of shooting Officer Young was later arrested at the Mexican border.  Andrew Barrientos has a court hearing scheduled for next week and faces several felony charges.
