It may not quite be the red carpet of the Oscars, but actor James Franco is proud to be back home in the Bay Area for his latest project.
The Palo Alto high school alum is doing a documentary about his mom's play, being staged at the Palo Alto Children's Theatre.
Franco is a student at Yale, and had planned to do the project as part of his degree there, but his plans changed and he is now doing the project for NYU.
The play is a modern adaptation of the classic Metamorphosis set in a contemporary high school.
It's set to be staged at the Palo Alto Children's Theatre this weekend.
