The life of legendary San Francisco folk singer Janis Joplin is being turned into a movie.
Actress Nina Arianda will play the lead role in the movie about the singer's life that will be directed by Sean Durkin.
Arianda, who starred in "Tower Heist" and "Midnight in Paris" will sing in her own voice for the project.
The movie is expected to begin filming next year.
It hasn't been confirmed whether the movie will be shot in San Francisco or not. But Joplin famously lived in the Haight-Ashbury and North Beach neighborhoods of the city.
