Jerry Brown to Avoid the Cameras for a Week

Get used to not seeing Gov. Jerry Brown around for awhile.

The oldest serving governor in California history is not taking any time off from his duties as the head of the state but instead the 73-year-old is going to stay out of the public eye until at least Friday.

Brown had a cancerous growth removed from the right side of his nose Friday at a hospital in Oakland, according to a report by the Los Angeles Times.

The condition is not considered serious but Brown does not want to appear in public until the stitches from his outpatient surgery are removed, which will begin Friday.

Brown was diagnosed with Basal cell carcinoma, which is a common form of skin cancer that can be caused by sun exposure.

His office has said that Brown will continue to work during his recovery. He just won't be seen in public until everything is all healed up.
