Jerry Seinfeld, Sarah Silverman, Ice-Cube Headline SF's Colossal Clusterfest This Weekend

It’s officially summer, which means it’s officially time for festivals. San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza and Bill Graham Civic Auditorium will be hosting Comedy Central’s Colossal Clusterfest on June 2. This three-day extravaganza features comedians, musicians, and podcasters, including headliners such as Jerry Seinfeld, Kevin Hart, Sarah Silverman and Ice Cube.

Here are some performances that look promising:

FRIDAY:

Starting on Friday, attendees will be immediately challenged to choose their top acts. Once the gates open at 5 p.m., a handful of musical acts will welcome the comedy craving crowds. Rambunctious rock singer Ty Segall will immediately let people shake off the weekday irritations, drowning the audience with his signature angst filled guitar riffs. With praise from Pitchfork on his most recent self-titled album, it will be a treat to witness the unpredictable music storm of which is Ty Segall.

Crowds also have the option to be serenaded by the sweet synth tunes of Brooklyn pop band, Great Good Fine Ok. Formed in 2013, this duo is already touring across the country and has been featured in The Chainsmokers’ song, “Let You Go.” Even with such a powerful collaboration, the band’s own melodies such as “Take It or Leave It” and “Not Going Home” will leave people feeling like they have floated away on a cloud to a futuristic funk party.

The early evening hours will host an event with Nerdist Podcast, Chris Hardwick, and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” trivia. Then, once the sun goes down at 8 p.m., Ice Cube will take the main stage by storm. Ever since appearing on the music scene in the 80s Hip Hop group N.W.A., Cube has become an icon. Not only did he pave roads within Rap, but his journey into music also inspired the popular 2015 movie, “Straight Outta Compton.” With limited performances across the country, this may be the only time fans will have to chance to see him in the Bay Area this year.

Audiences have the option to see either comedian Kevin Hart or Sarah Silverman to close out the night. While Hart may be short in stature, his shows pack a punch that leaves audiences roaring. Both he and Silverman are likely to deliver nothing short of perfection.

While Friday seems like it can’t be beat, the following days continue to bring top tier performances.

SATURDAY:

The Saturday must-sees begin with comedian Hannibal Buress. A counterpart in “The Eric Andre Show,” Buress can be seen with prankster Eric Andre wreaking havoc on celebrity guests. He also has released a Netflix special, “Comedy Camisado,” spinning his daily life and thoughts into a sidesplitting set. Buress will be performing for the remainder of the weekend, allowing fans to get a glimpse of the comedian himself.

Other popular appearances on Saturday include previous "SNL" member and "Portlandia" creator, Fred Armisen and "Broad City" duo, Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson. On the Colossal Stage at 9:45 p.m., Bill Burr will close out Saturday alongside Joe Derosa and Pete Davidson. Burr has conquered a triad of platforms including film and television, podcast, and stage performance. Derosa also has gained a large fan base by broadcasting his humorous accounts. Only 22 years old, Davidson has already wrapped up his third season on "Saturday Night Live." As all acts will have hosted earlier sets, pushing such powerhouses together can only result in a hilarious collaboration for the books.

SUNDAY:

The festival’s last day has a memorable lineup. The afternoon is packed with hot entertainment from musicians Tegan and Sara, podcaster Anna Faris, and funny woman Maya Rudolph.

Alongside these performers is also Bay Area native W. Kamau Bell. Having been nominated for three Emmy Awards for his CNN show, "United Shades of America," Bell has gained a well-deserved following.

Comedy Central is saving the best for the last: Jerry Seinfeld. At Clusterfest, "Seinfeld" fans will be given the exclusive opportunity to step into a replica of Jerry’s apartment from his sitcom, as well as feast on foods from Monk’s Café. While the comedian is also touring this year, there is no better time to catch him than at this legendary Bay Area festival.

Both weekend and single-day tickets are still available on Clusterfest’s website.
