Jewelry Heist in South Bay

Thieves strike Cupertino jewelry store.

If your loved one showers you with unexpected riches in jewelry and other finery this holiday season, watch out -- they could be a crook.

That's not to say you should immediately suspect them of participating in Monday's robbery at Vardy's Jewelers in Cupertino, where three men wielding handguns burst into the store around 11:15 a.m. on Monday, according to police.

The men wore black ski masks, grabbed an unknown amount of jewelery and were last seen fleeing on foot westwards on Rodrigues Avenue, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Detectives are currently reviewing security footage. Anyone with information is urged to tip investigators with the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office at 408-920-5705.
