John Konstin Assumes Role of San Francisco's New Building Commissioner

A crowd brimming with San Francisco dignitaries honored John Konstin Saturday as he was sworn in as the city’s new building commissioner.

Konstin said he plans on bringing more affordable housing to the city – a problem that has plagued neighborhoods and districts as gentrification spreads in the area.

The reception was held at Konstin’s long-running, family-owned restaurant John’s Grill, which has been a San Francisco landmark since it was built more than a century ago.

Mayor Ed Lee, former Mayor Willie Brown, San Francisco sheriff Vicki Hennesee, Senator Mark Leno and others attended the event.
