Juggling Act Shuts Down Fisherman's Wharf

Ashleigh Nushawg

The Fisherman's Wharf Restaurant Association may owe the Port of San Francisco hundreds of thousands of dollars in parking money.

Something a street performer uses to entertain crowds at Fisherman's Wharf caused a bomb scare this weekend.

Police evacuated the area Saturday after someone reported a juggler was using a "live" hand grenade in his act.  It turned out to be a toy, but the bomb squad didn't figure that out until after the evacuation order.  Police shut down Jefferson Street between Jones and Taylor Streets at 5 p.m.

Several people say the incident caused some real fear.

"I was a little bit scared and then my co-worker told me, oh run, run run, so I was a little bit afraid," Jennifer Wong said.

The wharf was shut down for about two hours.
