June Could Become Gay Pride Month

Contra Costa County has the 10th largest population of same sex couples in the state, according to the 2000 Census.

History could be made this morning at the Contra Costa Bounty Board of Supervisors meeting as they consider branding June as Pride Month.

Several East Bay activist groups say the resolution is considered a bittersweet victory for gay, lesbian and transgender communites.

The 2000 census reveals that Contra Costa County has the 10th largest population of same sex couples in the state.

The board meeting started at 9:30 a.m. and was still in session at 11 a.m.
