Surprise! Kevin Durant Rides BART, Sips on Boba During Bay Area Weekend Expedition

Turns out being a basketball superstar doesn't mean you can't lead a normal life. Just ask Kevin Durant, the newest member of "Dub Nation."

With just a few free days left on his schedule before the start of the regular season, Durant — with a little advice from the Reddit community — decided to hop around the Bay Area and do what Bay Area folks do best.

No. 35 jam-packed his weekend by stopping at his own art gallery in San Francisco, taking a peak at the Golden Gate Bridge, chatting up Bay Area rapper Sage the Gemini at Amoeba Music in Berkeley, and throwing some guidance to youngsters and high schoolers at various youth events.

"It was fun," Durant told reporters after Monday's practice. "Nike did a great job of coordinating everything. (I) just tried to get out and the touch the people a little bit and let them know I'm here."

The superstar's Bay Area expedition, which was plastered over social media, even included a break for bubble tea and a jaunt on the average Joe's public transportation tool: BART.

Durant may be new to riding BART, but he's no stranger to public transportation.

"I used to take the train to school everyday in high school so I've had that experience before," he told reporters.

Durant capped off his action-packed weekend at Oracle Arena, but not to lace up his basketball sneakers and sport a blue and gold jersey. He jumped and danced his way through a mosh pit while treating his ears to a live performance from Kanye West Sunday night.

"It was fun, man," Durant told reporters. "That whole experience, man, something I've never experienced before. I was happy that I was able to get the chance to go."

As for being the 6-foot, 9-inch highlight of the rowdy party, Durant told reporters, "I was telling all my friends the whole summer I wanted to get in a mosh pit. It was amazing."

Star-struck Bay Area fans certainly recognized that they were in the presence of a basketball legend and West couldn't help but stop his show and give the newest Warrior a shout-out.

"Hold up, hold up," West was heard saying. "KD, I see you down there."

Before Durant's exploration even began, he hopped on Reddit last week to ask Bay Area residents what sights he should check out and what activities he should busy himself with while he lives it up in his new digs. To the Internet's delight, Durant listened.

But, the four-time scoring champion did admit he still has some work to do.

"I'm still trying to find my way," Durant said Monday. "I'm still getting adjusted."
