Deadly Crash Shuts Down I-580 in San Leandro

The California Highway Patrol was diverting traffic off of Interstate Highway 580 Friday morning following a fatal crash in San Leandro on the approach into Castro Valley.

Eastbound traffic was being diverted off the highway at the 164th Avenue off-ramp, and the CHP has issued a Sig-alert due to the crash.

The highway reopened by about 7:30 a.m.

Emergency crews responded at 4:21 a.m. to rollover crash involving at least two vehicles and with one vehicle engulfed in flames.

People injured in the crash were also transported to the hospital, officers said.
