LeBron James Says ‘Ultimate Warrior' T-Shirt Selection Wasn't Planned

It's been more than two months since the Cleveland Cavaliers won three straight elimination games to dethrone the Golden State Warriors and capture an NBA title.

For Warriors fans, the sting of the championship collapse burned even deeper when LeBron James sported an "Ultimate Warrior" T-shirt as he departed the team plane in Cleveland, hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy for all of Cleveland to gawk at.

However, the four-time NBA MVP denied that his T-shirt selection was planned in advance, according to NBC Sports and James' interview with Business Insider.

James told Business Insider that his wife had purchased him a number of wrestling shirts before the Cavs' championship run. As the playoffs rolled on, James packed a number of those shirts, which included "Ultimate Warrior," "Sting," "Ric Flair" and more, in his travel bags.

The 2016 Finals MVP was donning a specific shirt as his newly-crowned team made its way back to Cleveland, but after a celebratory stop in Las Vegas, that piece of clothing ended up doused in champagne. James tossed it in the trash and said that the only other shirt in his carry-on bag was the "Ultimate Warrior" one, according to Business Insider.

"That was the only one because all our bags were underneath the plane," James told Business Insider. "Everybody thinks it was set up that way, but it really wasn't. It kind of worked out that way."

Even if the Cavs had lost Game 7 and come home empty-handed, James told Business Insider that he would still sported the "Ultimate Warrior" T-shirt, or pull off a J.R. Smith stunt and go shirtless.
