Too much lead in candies imported from Asia by a San Jose-based company has prompted a recall.
"Ginger Candy" imported by Eversham International Trading has lead levels up to 0.12 parts per million, or 10.21 micrograms of lead per serving, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
That's double the daily dose of lead in just one candy, according to the newspaper.
The candies come in a clear plastic container with a white label. The label has a drawing of a coconut tree on them, the newspaper reported.
Anyone in possession of these candies "should throw them away immediately," according to state health officials.
Pregnant women and parents of young children who may have eaten the candy should speak to doctors, the newpsaper reported.
