Levi's Stadium Ribbon-Cutting Date Set

Formal opening to take place one month before Niners' first preseason home game

The countdown is on.

A source close to the Levi's Stadium project confirms the new home of the San Francisco 49ers will formally open next month.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for July 17. The team plans to unveil more event details as the date draws nearer.

The first game played at the new stadium won’t be football but soccer. The San Jose Earthquakes will take the field against the Seattle Sounders FC on August 2.

The 49ers' first game will be an August 17 exhibition against the Denver Broncos.

Super Bowl 50 is scheduled to take place at Levi's Stadium in February 2016.

Crews installed the last seat at the new stadium last month. The stadium will seat 68,500 fans during home games.
