Levi's Stadium Special Events Police Sworn In

The Santa Clara Police Department ushered in a group of special events officers assigned to Levi's Stadium on Tuesday morning.

About 30 officers were sworn in by Chief of Police Mike Sellers and Assistant Chief of Police Dan Winters at the Santa Clara Police Department. This is the first of several groups of officers to join the new stadium’s safety force.

“This is a fantastic day for us here at the police department and our city to welcome these new officers to the Santa Clara Family,” Lieutenant Kurt Clarke said.

The groups of officers come from 37 different law enforcement agencies from as far away as Sacramento County, said Clarke.

Following the ceremony, the group began an outlined training program for their duties at the stadium, which will range from traffic control to monitoring guest behavior in the stands.

These officers will make their first appearance at the new venue on Aug. 2 for the Earthquakes vs. Seattle Sounders MLS showdown.
