It's highly likely pitcher Tim Lincecum doesn't feel so great about not pitching an inning as the San Francisco Giants attempt to win their third World Series in five seasons.
And, indeed, Lincecum missed player introductions before the beginning of Game 1 because he was sick. At least that's what his skipper says.
An unspecified ailment led Lincecum to be MIA for the pregame ceremonies, in the clubhouse throwing up, manager Bruce Bochy told the San Francisco Chronicle.
"That's the truth. He was in here throwing up," Bochy told reporters.
Lincecum, 30, was a key part of the 2010 World Series team but has had highly-publicized struggles in the years since.
He was dropped from the starting rotation late this year after tossing his second no-hitter earlier in the summer. He is available as a long reliever, a role in which he excelled in 2012, but has yet to be called on to pitch.
Lincecum told the Mercury News that he was late getting onto the field Tuesday and didn't want to interrupt things, leaving Bochy to inform the media of his pitcher's ill feelings.
