Longest-Married Man Dies at 99

He might have looked back on his married life and thought "some decades were better than others"

Commitment-phobes, fear Tony Brabo.

The Marin man, 99, was married for what is believed to be an all-time Marin record of 82 years before he passed away last week, according to the Marin Independent Journal.

Brabo married his wife, Mary, on July 3, 1929, when the couple were teenagers. And as if that was not enough continuity, Brabo died on the same Homestead Valley home where Mary Brabo was born in 1910, according to the paper.

Brabo was born in 1912 in Mill Valley and, after being orphaned at age 12, he worked at dairy ranches in West Marin. He served in the US Navy during World War II, and ran a construction company, the newspaper reported.

Brabo is survived by his wife, Mary, and a daughter in Corte Madera. It is likely that the length of their marriage will survive, at least in Marin County, for some time.
