Los Gatos is the latest town in the Bay Area to consider banning plastic bags.

A community meeting is being held Thursday night to talk about the new proposal, which would ban single-use plastic bags from being handed out at most stores.

Retailers would also be forced to charge 10 cents for paper bags and that would jump to 25 cents in 2015.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Los Gatos Town Council chamber.
