Firefighters battled a one-alarm vegetation fire next to the Los Lagos Golf Course in South San Jose Monday afternoon, a dispatcher said, but that didn't stop the golfers.
The Fire Department received a report about the fire at 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of Senter Road and East Capitol Expressway, according to the dispatcher.
The course's Back 9 remained opened while the fire burned not far from the fifth hole tee box, a golf course rep told NBC Bay Area via telephone.
The course is about six miles from the so-called Curie Fire that was burning around the same time in the foothills southeast of San Jose.
Fire officials said the blaze burned about 5 acres and was extinguished at 7 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Crews will remain on scene for fire watch until Tuesday morning.
