Lounge Denied Landmark Status

Legal Battle Continues

The well is running dry at a popular watering hole in San Francisco.

The San Francisco Historic Preservation Commission has decided, in a 5-2 vote, that The Gold Dust Lounge doesn’t qualify as a historic landmark.

Patrons are trying to help keep the 47-year-old bar in business, despite eviction orders from the family which owns the building.

Back in December, the Handlery family gave the lounge three months to find a new home.

The lounge ignored that order. Both sides have since filed lawsuits against one another.
