LovEvolution To Embrace Oakland This Month

Dust off your glow sticks and shake out your glitter: LovEvolution is back. And it's headed to The Town.

Oakland will host this year's edition of the electronic music festival, organizers announced, as the LovEvolution parade, electronic music and people-watching extravaganza will take place Sept. 24 at the Oakland Coliseum and Oracle Arena, organizers announced this week.

You may recall that in recent years LovEvolution has been a bit erratic: the party didn't happen at all last year when organizers, dealing with the fallout from a fatal electronic music festival in Germany, failed to secure a permit, ending a string of strung-out stragglers making Civic Center their home du jour.

The hiatus will be worth the wait, as "[c]utting edge acts such as The Glitch Mob, Pendulum and Plump DJ’s" will spin the hits all the kids know and love, and the kids -- many of whom will be clad in tutus, promises The Bay Citizen, if clad at all -- will, presumably, take advantage of the "large-scale shaded grassy area" hosted by Supperclub, where Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation will perform.

No word on whether this particular goodie mob will blend in with the denizens of the Black Hole, scheduled to arrive only hours later for the Oakland Raiders' Sept. 25 home game. In some cases, it could be a match made in heaven. Or Oakland.
