Magnitude-4.5 Earthquake Hits Near Redding

A preliminary magnitude 4.5 earthquake shook Northen California between Eureka and Redding on Sunday afternoon, according to a report from the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake struck about 2:20 p.m. and was centered in an area southwest of Redding, in or near the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, the USGS report indicated.

The temblor originated at a depth of about 22 miles, the USGS said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
