Mammoth Is Open, Get there Direct from SFO

Been itching for some snow down your back and a hot toddy? Or just need a break from Tahoe? Mammoth Mountain is mixing man-made and natural snow for a grand opening this weekend, starting this morning.

From 1-3 feet of the stuff fell from the sky on Sunday. And it's been cold enough to allow the machines to work around the clock. And flights leave on the daily from SFO.

Also this weekend is the film premiere of "Another Day in Paradise" -- presented by Mammoth Mountain and Snowboarder Magazine on Saturday, November 13, followed by a concert by The Sounds at Canyon Lodge.

The movie is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. The concert is open to ages 21 and up and the doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door and are available by calling 800.MAMMOTH.

For the nitty-gritty types, here's the lift information, direct from the resort: Broadway Express (Chair 1), Face Lift Express (Chair 3), Thunder Bound Express (Chair 6), Discovery Chair (Chair 11) and the Upper and Lower Panorama Gondola. Mammoth Mountain currently has a base depth of 18 to 36 inches of natural and man-made snow and will have 12 trails available accessing over 2,000 vertical feet of rideable terrain including Cornice Bowl from the summit.
