A man riding the escalator at the Powell Street Station suffered an unknown medical attack, which resulted in getting his hair and jacket caught in the escalator, reports the

Witnesses called for help around 1 p.m. today, after the man, said to be in his 50s, got tangled in the moving staircase.
Officials shut off the escalator while fire crews cut the man out, and performed CPR.
Unfortunately the man died later, presumably due to the medical condition.
Police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said they are calling the area a crime scene until they can piece together all the witness information, and be sure it was only an accident.
