Santa Rita Jail Escapee Found

The search is on for robbery suspect out of Oakland.

Breaking News Update: Deputies at the Santa Rita jail in Dublin just told NBC Bay Area News they've found an inmate who  escaped Monday afternoon.

Sgt. J.D. Nelson said the man is a robbery suspect out of Oakland. He's been identified as Jose Luis Franco (pictured below).

Reports of the escape came in around 2 p.m. when someone called the sheriff's office and said they saw a man in jail clothing leaving jail grounds.

He said deputies are searching the immediate jail grounds as well  as the hills north of the jail in Dublin and San Ramon.

Helicopter video from above the jail shows deputies on all terrain vehicles behind the jail searching for the man.  Officials are also stopping vehicles as they exit the jail and searching their trunks.

Franco, 57, was returning from court when he "somehow was able to breach the wall of the jail," Nelson said.

"We don't know exactly how he did that," he said.

More on how Franco was found Monday night at 11pm.
