Body Found Inside Tented San Jose Home

San Jose police said they have no idea why a man entered a home in the midst of being fumigated this week. His body was discovered Monday afternoon by shocked workers who entered the home as part of a pest removal process.

The home is on Lanier Lane in South San Jose.

Police said the unidentified man could have been searching for warmth from the cold.

It is also possible he went in to rob the place and then found himself under attack of poisonous air. The home had lots of markings that said "poisonous" and "do not enter."

The San Jose Mercury News noted it wasn't clear what kind of chemicals were used to fumigate the home. In the past methyl bromide was the common method, but the paper said it has been phased out because of stricter state pesticide regulations.
