Man ID'd in Fatal Ferry-Boat Crash Near Tiburon

The man who died of injuries in a high-speed crash between a Golden Gate ferry and a pleasure boat over the weekend has been identified as Henry Holzhauer, 66, who lived near Portland, Ore.

The Coast Guard said Holzhauer and another man were in a 22-foot speedboat when it slammed into a ferry en route from Sausalito to San Francisco on Saturday about 5:30 p.m. The ferry had 500 passengers on board, and no one reported injuries.

The other man on the speedboat is recovering from the accident and talking with investigators. A family friend said Holzhauer moved from Florida to Oregon nine months ago to be closer to family. The friend also said that Holzhauer was in town to teach an appraisal course and spend time with friends in Tiburon. He and his wife were going to make another trip in May.
