Man Killed by Amtrak in San Jose

A person who struck and killed by an Amtrak train in San Jose this morning.

The fatality was reported at about 10:50 a.m., San Jose Fire  Department Capt. Mary Gutierrez said.

It is not known exactly where the man was hit, but his body was  located on Monterey Road at the intersection of Capitol Expressway. The San  Jose Fire Department first reported the body was found at Monterey Road and  the Blossom Hill Road overpass.

The Union Pacific tracks remained shut down at around 12:30 p.m.,  and some 200 people who were on the train were still not being allowed to get  off. They were expected to be held on the train until the body was removed,  Gutierrez said.

The coroner still had not arrived at about 12:20 p.m.
