Suspect at Large After Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in San Jose

A man was struck by a hit-and-run driver and killed in San Jose early Tuesday morning, police said.

Officers were dispatched to Tully and King roads around 12:22 a.m. on reports of a car ramming into a pedestrian. The victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was identified as Nathan Martinez, a 37-year-old transient, the coroner's office said.

Police said the driver, who was behind the wheel of a white SUV, fled the scene. He remains at large as of Tuesday evening and police have not yet provided any suspect information.

Tuesday’s crash marks San Jose’s 29th fatal collision, and Martinez is the 31st victim this year, police said.
