Man Kills Self in Front of SF Police Station

Was it meant to be some kind of statement? Was it the location merely a coincidence, just a footnote to a sad and tragic public end?

Many questions remain after an unidentified man committed suicide in front of the San Francisco Police Department's Mission Station on Monday morning, according to the San Francisco Appeal.

The man, whose identity is unknown, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound outside of the Mission Station at 630 Valencia street at about 9 a.m., according to police.

No details on the man's age, race or appearance was immediately available.

Anyone who is feeling suicidal is encouraged call the national, 24-hour suicide prevention hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to be connected to the closest crisis line.

Crisis counselors from the nonprofit San Francisco Suicide Prevention are also available to participate in online chats at www.sfsuicide.org.
