Man Rescued From Cliff Fall

A 25 year-old man was rescued from a steep cliff this morning, after falling sometime in the night and breaking his ankle.

The man, who had no cell phone, climbed the Lands End cliff alone last night, and had to spend the night in the cold, until nearby hikers heard his cries for help, said Division Chief Art Kenney.

Firefighters responded at 7:55 a.m., and struggled to get to the man.

Eventually crews had to take to the water, using a Jet Ski to transport the man to a boat, Kenney said.

"It turned out to be the best method," Kenney said.

The victim was suffering from hypothermia and was transported to a hospital.
