In what must have been an excruciating act, a 20-year-old man cut off his penis early Wednesday with an X-Acto knife, Fremont police said.
Police Det. Bill Veteran said officers were called to a home in the 4300 block of Mowry Avenue about 2 a.m. by the man’s brother.
Officers were able to find the organ, and the man was taken to the hospital in the hopes of reattaching it.
Police say they don't believe the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but he will likely face a psychological evaluation.
