Man Shot Dead in Menlo Park Saturday Evening

Police responded to reports of gunshots on Ivy Drive around 6:30 p.m.

A man was shot dead in Menlo Park Saturday evening.

Around 6:30 p.m. police responded to reports of gunshots in the 300 block of Ivy Drive, according to Menlo Park police Cmdr. Dave Bertini.

When police arrived they found a man lying in the street. Emergency responders arrived and  pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police said witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing two men wearing dark, hooded sweatshirts running away from the scene. One was reportedly seen running north on Ivy Drive and the other was running west on Modoc Avenue.
Witnesses said the men were were  wearing dark, hooded sweatshirts.

Police said they believe the man was sitting in a car when the shooting began.

The name of the man who was shot is being withheld pending notification of his relatives.
