Man Shot, Killed in San Jose Parking Lot

A 20-year-old Santa Clara man was shot and killed in the parking lot of a San Jose Target early Sunday morning, a San Jose Police Department spokesman said.

Police got a call at 2:56 a.m. about a shooting in the parking lot of a shopping center in the 1700 block of Story Road at the intersection of Story and King roads, police spokesman Dirk Parsons said.

When the officers arrived there they found a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead in the parking lot, he said.

Witnesses told police a car drove slowly along the large parking lot and then fired. No description of the car or the suspects has been released. Police don't know how many shooters there were or how many shots were fired. The motive is unknown and it's too early to tell if it's gang related, Parsons said.

No one else was injured.

This was the 10th homicide in 2010 for San Jose.
