A man was shot and killed by two officers in the 2000 block of Sonoma Boulevard in Vallejo.

A 53-year-old Vallejo resident was shot and killed by two officers late Thursday night after he reportedly pulled a gun on them, according to police reports.

Two Vallejo Police Department officers responded to a report of a fight between two men in the 2000 block of Sonoma Boulevard just before midnight Thursday, according to police reports. One of the men reportedly had a gun.

The two officers found the man in question quickly walking away from the other man, who called authorities, according to reports.

The officers followed the man in their car before asking the unnamed man, who was wearing a long black jacket, to stop, according to reports.

But the officers reported that they saw the man turn to them while pulling a handgun out, according to reports.

The officers ordered the man to drop his weapon but he continued to walk towards the officers with the gun, according to reports.

The officers shot the man and then handcuffed him before calling for medical assistance, according to reports.

The man died at the scene and the officers were not injured.

The shooting is being investigated by the police department and the Solano County District Attorney's Office.

The two officers have been placed on paid leave pending the investigation.
