Man Shows Up Injured on Homeowner's Los Gatos Doorstep

There was a flurry of police activity and crime scene investigators in normally quiet Los Gatos on Friday morning after a 34-year-old man showed up on the doorstep of a home with unknown injuries.

Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police Sgt. JR Langer said that person was taken to the hospital, and police were interviewing the 50-year-old homeowner on Drakes Bay Avenue at National Avenue to try to figure out what happened. The homeowner called police about 1 a.m.

"We're trying to sort things out," he said.

Many neighbors said they didn't hear anything until they woke up and saw police tape still surrounded the tree-line neighborhood and investigators collecting evidence. One resident, however, said her neighbor heard something.

"My neighbor said she heard a lot of shouting," a woman who only wanted to be identified as Carri said.

While the affluent town of nearly 30,000 has typically low crime rates, police arrested an 80-year-old man on a murder charge on Oct. 28 after his wife's body was found in their home in the 100 block of Dover Court. In that case, Richard Leonard Stefanik also had suffered self-inflicted injuries.
